My Family
I became a single mother of my ten-month old son after a two-year marriage. I poured my life into raising Ryan and remained single until after he left my “nest.” I now have my best friend and husband, Jon. I share his three adult children and their families as my own, and have eight wonderful grand-kids.
Getting together with my immediate or extended family to visit, play games, or share a meal always fills my heart. Being in the great outdoors for a hike, to sit in my hammock with a good book, or even to pull weeds is my idea of a good day.
My Career
Professionally, I have been a Registered Nurse for over thirty years! I was a single mother when I began my nursing training. The college admission counselor did not think I could make it through the vigorous program. He had witnessed other students who were not single parents, nor working every weekend, have a difficult time. I proved him wrong and have had a rich and interesting career.
My Faith
I also love Jesus! I continue to be amazed how He cares about the details of my life. My church family is important to me and my time spent with them is valuable.
My world was turned upside down when Ryan died. We make our plans, but things can change, sometimes in an instant. We need to adapt and change with them, which isn’t easy. Jesus said we would face all sorts of trials in this life. But He also said He has come to bring us His peace in these times. John 16:33
Trusting God in my trials and hardships during this journey of grief was the only thing that made sense. And it saved me from, well, me! He makes a way when it seems impossible. He takes the mess and makes something good. Romans 8:28
Writing our story, and now being a published author with a website, has moved me into many new things I never dreamed I would be doing. I continue to lean on Jesus.
